UK Lockdown 3.0: Lockdown Walks Down Memory Lane

Here we go again — the UK has now officially entered Lockdown 3.0. So, time to lace up those shoes and get walking. Let’s bring back those lockdown walks!

I’m sure you know what to do, we’ve been here before after all. But if you do need a little reminder, some inspiration, or could do with a little chuckle, have a look at my UK Lockdown 2.0 posts.

Remember, not only the world but even your immediate neighbourhood can be your oyster if you give it a chance and go out there with an open mind. Let the awe of nature do its magic. Embrace that inner child. Look for hidden treasures, be it geocaches or nature’s little surprises. Take along your favourite treat adding a special flavour to your stroll. Listen to an old tune putting a spring in your step, or go all out and throw some proper shapes along those trails. ‘You gotta keep dancin,’ Tim Hansel would say, because no matter what our circumstances are, we can choose to be joyful. So, let’s give it a whirl again and dig out those happy thoughts while confidently walking our way through yet another lockdown.

Unfortunately, this time I won’t be able to join in, at first at least, since Covid finally also knocked on my door. Don’t worry, still chipper and healthy as ever, no symptoms, only some indirect contact making me hesitant to go about my usual tracks. But embracing Tim’s mindset, I shall not sit at home and twiddle my thumbs but decided to head down memory lane for a bit. This way, I can still participate in our lockdown walks and take along some of you that might find themselves in a similar situation, or just fancy to daydream with me for a little while, as I revisit some of my favourite walks throughout the years…

I can feel my mind wandering off already… off to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in New Zealand maybe? Hmmm, that might go beyond our daily outdoor allowance. Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher might do, although that could be a bit windy these days. How about a treetop walk along Costa Rica’s hanging bridges? Definitely more cosy this time of the year 🤔 …

I think I just need to start walking and see where it leads me. And so should you, get out there and let me know what you come across this time around. Find me on social media or drop me a message.

Also, make sure to come back to find out where I ended up going for a reminiscent walk. I have a few in mind but am also open to suggestions as you know where I’ve been by now. Just comment below and your wish shall be my command.

Happy walking and stay safe, guys! 🏡🚶‍♀️🏡
